Community Update: Important Regulatory Changes for High Desert Buyers and Sellers

To our TGX community, staying informed is the best way to ensure responsible ownership in the High Desert. Several regulatory updates are currently impacting how we trade firearms. At the state level, AB 1483 takes effect on January 1, 2025. This major change eliminates the current exemption for Private Party Transfers (PPT) from the one-in-30-day purchase limit. Moving forward, PPTs will count toward your 30-day limit just like standard retail purchases. Additionally, AB 3064 has been chaptered, bringing further procedural updates to state law. On the federal side, the ATF has updated its definition of what it means to be 'Engaged in the Business' of dealing in firearms, clarifying the criteria for when an individual must obtain a Federal Firearms License. We encourage all members to review how these shifts in policy might impact your future transactions. As always, please keep your records straight and stay proactive about compliance.
