Community Update: Important Corrections to TGX Firearm Law Guidelines
We are updating our community resources to ensure everyone in the High Desert has accurate information. We recently audited our internal records and found errors regarding state-mandated fees and purchase restrictions. Most importantly, per California Penal Code 28050, the dealer service fee for a Private Party Transfer is capped at $10 per firearm, plus the standard state DROS background check fee. Please note that our previous reference to a $100 cap was incorrect. Regarding purchase limits, California Penal Code 27535 stipulates that Private Party Transfers conducted through a licensed dealer are generally exempt from the 1-in-30 day purchase limit that applies to retail sales. While litigation challenging various state restrictions continues, official 10-day waiting periods and current background check protocols remain fully enforced under existing CA DOJ guidelines. We have also updated our FAQ to reflect recent legislative shifts including AB 1483 and AB 1406. These changes ensure our marketplace remains compliant and transparent for all buyers and sellers. As a reminder, this summary is for informational purposes only; please consult the official CA DOJ Bureau of Firearms website to confirm current regulations before conducting any transaction.
