Buyer Etiquette & Ownership Checklist
Know how to show up as a buyer, and confirm you meet every California requirement to take possession of a handgun or long gun.
Buyer Etiquette
A smooth transfer comes down to a few simple courtesies. Following these keeps sellers happy and your reputation strong.
Show up on time
Be punctual for your FFL appointment. If something comes up, message the seller through the app as early as possible.
Bring your documents
Arrive with a valid CA ID, your FSC, proof of residency (handgun), and any safe-storage affidavit ready — the FFL can't proceed without them.
Keep it on the platform
Arrange the transfer through in-app messaging so there's a clear record. Don't pull the seller off-platform to negotiate.
Agree on price first
Confirm the asking price before reserving. Once you reserve, honor it — don't renegotiate at the FFL.
Inspect, then transfer
You have the right to inspect the firearm at the FFL before paperwork is finalized. Be respectful and decisive.
Be a verified buyer
Keep your FSC on file and your membership active so sellers know you're serious and eligible to take possession.
